FRACTIONS

This week the room 11 numeracy class have been learning to use multiplication to find a fraction of a set. Here are some problems that the students created - see if you can solve them using multiplication.

'Emie had 72 bunches of grapes. One ninth of the grapes were eaten by some birds how many bunches did Emie lose?'

'There were 27 whiteboard pens then all of a sudden one third of the pens ran out. How many pens were left?'

'Emma and Milly had 40 lollies each. One fifth of their lollies were given away to friends. How many lollies did Emma and Milly have left to eat?'
