Speeches Week 3

In their quest to create the ultimate speech room 11 are now faced with the task of writing the MAIN BODY of their speech. For some this challenge has been a little daunting but luckily Mr. McMillan has bestowed upon them 3 simple steps for writing their main points...

HOW TO WRITE THE MAIN BODY OF YOUR SPEECH

STEP 1
·      Choose the most important idea/point to discuss first
·      Think to yourself - HOW can I explain (show/tell) that idea/point to my audience? What is the most effective way for them to understand it?

STEP 2
·      Write down what you’d say as if you were talking directly to them
·      Write your sequence of ideas so that they are logical and easily followed
·      Explain and illustrate your point with examples from your research

STEP 3
·      Check the length of your sentences (if they are too long you risk losing your audience).
·      Have you chosen words that everybody will understand?
·      Read what you have written aloud

Will room 11 make it through this part of their speech journey unscathed? Stay tuned to find out.
