CATAPULT CRAZINESS

This week room 15 launched some catapults that they made out of 10 rubber bands, 2 pieces of A4 card, 20 pieces of newsprint paper, 10 straws and 20 popsicle sticks.

The class was split up into 5 teams and in our groups we had to use the materials above to build a catapult that would launch a tennis ball.

There were some amazing catapults but the most successful catapult was in the shape of a triangle so when the tennis ball was launched it went higher and further than the other catapults.

Before we made our catapults we look at the different types of catapults that were used in battle and we watched a video clip of the magonel catapult in action. The magonel took 4 minutes to re-load so in war you would launch a projectile then take another 4 minutes to launch another projectile.
